HBDJ Weekly Update – Week 17

Holy moly — Fisher absolutely blew up Bay Oval last night, didn’t he? Mount town was the busiest I’ve ever seen it. Absolute mayhem.

This week got flipped on its head pretty early for me, starting with an overnight shift on Wednesday that kicked off a solid run of very little sleep over the next four days.

Friday night I got the call to head down and play at Taste with Aimee D. It was a quieter one overall, but it definitely picked up as the night rolled on. Taste is always a good time, and we consistently get so much love from the younger crowd there, which never gets old.

But Saturday night was hands down the highlight of the week.

Our first time playing at Rita’s, and wow — what a night. Slightly older crowd, which honestly is right in our wheelhouse. Fewer song requests, more people just there to enjoy the music and the moment. We cruised through some chilled house early on, then once the Fisher crowd started wandering over, we cranked things up into some bassy tech house. From that point on, the place was buzzing. Couldn’t have wiped the smile off my face if you tried.

Massive thanks to Connor for the invite — absolute legend.

An absolute ripper of a weekend. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it), both Michael and I were back on shift Saturday and Sunday, so no rest for the wicked.

Catch ya next week,

Jay
