HBDJ Weekly Update – Week 15

Week 15 and what a fun one it was for the Homebrewed lads.
We kicked things off Friday night DJing a 21st, and honestly, it was such a great vibe. The speeches made it pretty clear how much love this guy has around him — his achievements really stood out. Once the formalities wrapped up, it was straight into party mode. We ran a solid mix of ’90s throwbacks for the parents and 2000s jams for the younger crowd. One highlight was a fully requested Pitch Perfect riff-off — nearly seven minutes long and sung word for word. Mixing out felt criminal, so we let it ride.
Saturday morning we were up early and headed down to Barber Spence, a local business that really aligns with what we’re about. Spencer is a massive advocate for men’s mental health and does a lot for the community, so it felt like the perfect place to play. We moved through house, UKG, and bass music, and even dusted off a lesser-seen Jaydo hip-hop set.
After a solid morning session, Spence invited us back that night for a last-minute barbershop pop-up. We rolled back in around 8pm, set up the gear, and sent it. The turnout wasn’t huge — probably the downside of throwing something together last minute — but it was still cool to try something different. Definitely took a few lessons away from it, which is always a win.
Sunday found us both recovering from a very rambunctious afters that stretched well into the early hours.
Cheers,
Jay
