HBDJ Weekly Update – Week 21
Wow. What a weekend.
Roulette. Wedding. Cheeky 1am beach debrief.
The kind of few days you don’t forget in a hurry.
We kicked things off Friday with B2B Roulette — three months in the making and easily one of the most creative concepts we’ve brought to life so far. Seeing it all come together was unreal. The final B2B with every DJ on stage was a proper moment. I jumped up for a few tunes during that closing set and the energy up there was something else. Over 100 people through the door, which we’re genuinely stoked with. Plenty to build on too — and that’s the exciting part.
Saturday started slow after a very late one (most of the crew ended up back at mine until the early hours). Before I knew it, Michael was at the door and we were packing the car to head out to Matatā for a wedding.
The venue overlooked the beach, with a clear marquee for the reception — seriously scenic. The couple and their guests brought awesome energy. Plenty of genre-jumping requests which kept us on our toes, but we made it work and kept the dance floor moving.
After wrapping up, we linked up with Aimee D, who’d just finished DJing a wedding further up the coast. Parked up by the beach, debriefed the weekend, and soaked it in for a bit. Michael eventually hit the road home — only to be up at sparrow’s fart the next morning to catch a flight to Christchurch.
I grabbed a few behind-the-scenes clips from the wedding setup, so keep an eye out for a post on that soon.
Now Roulette’s done… what’s next? 👀
Have an unreal week,
Jaden
