HBDJ Weekly Update - Week 12

Hey team,

What a week. Full-on lead-up to New Year’s and things didn’t slow down at all.

Christmas Day saw the crew still on the clock — I was stuck on graveyards while Michael held it down through the middle of the day. Overtime’s nice, but let’s be honest, we’d all rather be parked up with family. After finishing at 7am I still dragged myself to a family lunch feeling like an absolute shell of a human. Hope everyone managed to spend the day with whānau or the people that matter most.

We kicked the week off Monday with a private birthday party for the lovely Tahlia (aka Broady’s partner). Broady set the tone early, followed by a dubstep-heavy Jaydo set. Opus jumped on next and treated us to some of his Famous Last Words blends before Jaydo wrapped things up with the commercial heaters. Proper vibes all night — always good getting loose with familiar faces in a more intimate setting.

Midweek, Michael headed out to check out a new venue for us — Ōkahukura for Tats & Tunes. Safe to say we were impressed. Seriously solid sound system and definitely somewhere we’re keen to be back at.

Post-Christmas weekend rolled around and Aimee invited the lads to jump on with her at Taste. We played the back room as the secondary DJs on Saturday night, which turned out to be a wicked session and a lot of fun.

Now it’s full tunnel vision toward New Year’s. We spent about six hours on Sunday removing a single seat from the back of the van we’ll be sleeping in at Euphoria Until Sunrise. One last shopping mission and we’re officially locked and loaded.

Cheers team — have a bloody good New Year.

Much love,

Jaden
