G’day, and welcome to HBDJ Weekly Update – Week 10. When I first started this series, I wasn’t sure how long it would last — so hitting ten weeks feels like a pretty solid effort. Once we get to a year, I reckon it’ll just feel like another part of the weekly routine.
This week at Homebrewed was a full one on the regular grind. Michael and I spent the week answering medical alarm calls at our day jobs — something that surprises a lot of people when they find out we work together there too. It’s a genuinely fulfilling role, but mentally draining at times, which is why you’ll often hear us mention the balance between work and gigs.
Friday night saw us down at the Mount Sports and Fishing Club for Taura’s Christmas Party. Levi took charge of the decks and kept people dancing right up until pack-down. We even managed to sneak in a cheeky lyny flip of Bass Cannon, which should give you a pretty good idea of how that night ended.
Then on Saturday from 5–9:30pm, we played at The Raft on Chapel Street — an absolutely stunning spot overlooking the causeway and Tauranga Harbour. Watching the sun go down while playing tunes there was something special, and we’re already keen to get back.
Today finds Michael resting up while I’m back on the grind. Until next week, chaps.
