HBDJ Weekly Update - Week 6, Another week down for the Homebrewed boys — and another one packed with full-on rosters at our day jobs. That unfortunately meant no gigs for us this weekend, but we still managed to sneak in something pretty exciting.
Earlier in the week we headed out for a site tour of Euphoria: Until Sunrise at TECT Park. This one’s shaping up to be a proper community-style bush doof. In our promo video we used the word “festival,” but after seeing everything in person and reading the event description properly, “festival” isn’t quite the right fit. It’s much more of a relaxed New Year’s gathering built around good people, good energy, and damn good music.
The Homebass Stage will be holding strong to what Homebass is all about — inclusivity. We’re working hard to build a lineup that represents all walks of life in Aotearoa, giving talent from marginalised groups the same stage opportunities as everyone else. That’s always been a core value for us, and this event is a perfect place to live it out.
Even though we weren’t gigging this weekend, Tauranga absolutely came alive with some huge events — which we honestly don’t get very often.
Friday brought No Days Off for the DnB heads, plus the Trackside Stage which served up some wicked house sets from local legends like FFAR and GroundHog. After that wrapped up, we had Leviathan running the afterparty. According to Levi, it was nothing short of outrageous. Proper send.
And today (as I’m writing this), Innerbloom is going down on the Tauranga waterfront with Hyan, plus Sin & Brook throwing down some tunes. These three are some of my absolute favourites in NZ EDM or NZG if you catch my drift. If you’ve got a ticket, you’re in for a massive afternoon out there.
Couple more weeks of R&R for us before the calendar starts filling up again — so we’re enjoying the calm nights at home while we’ve got them.
Cheers guys,
Until next week, Jay
