HBDJ Weekly Update - Week 48

HBDJ Weekly Update - Week 48
Heya team, it was a big week for the lads, and another great weekend of music is coming up! I was supposed to get the update up on Sunday as usual, but I was way too tired. After a very busy day at work yesterday, I’m finally writing this update today (Tuesday). The week included an event drop, some fun at Astrolabe, and sending off open decks.
First up, our event drop. On Friday, we released Opus and Friends. Opus reached out a couple of months ago to let us know he was moving down south. Check out his update video here on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/Dc2sVkBk8GF/?stkn=MXFobWZvMXduaG8z.
After learning about this, he wanted to throw an epic leaving party, which also marked his first headline show! We ramped up the promotion, and after tickets went on sale last night, they’ve been flying off the shelves. These tickets are selling out fast, so act quickly or you’ll miss out! Think 360 experience, where you’re allowed to party on the stage, with Tauranga’s best local DJs throwing down. Then, to end the night, you get all gas, no brakes Opus delivering the best DnB through Tauranga’s best speaker system.
Also on Friday, I competed in the Astrolabe DJs Battle. After seeing the competition pop up a couple of weeks ago, I thought, why not enter? My set was selected as one of the final 12, allowing me to play at one of the venues I’ve always wanted to play at. I put together a set that was definitely good enough to be a winning set, and although I made a couple of mistakes during the set, I was really proud of my performance. Tauranga’s DJs are incredibly talented, and I ended up in 3rd place. Pretty happy all things considered, and stoked to have played at Astrolabe (even if it was for 15 minutes, LOL).
Saturday wrapped up our weekend. We had our final open decks, sending off almost two years of showcasing Tauranga’s talent. This was a really bittersweet feeling. It takes a lot of time to put on these events, and as I explained in our previous weekly update, we really want to put more effort into the Homebrewed Offering. That doesn’t mean Homebass will be dormant. If any events pop up or we have any great ideas, we’ll still make them a reality. I’ll edit the sets on my days off from work tomorrow and Thursday, and they should be ready to be posted on Monday.
That brings us to the end of Week 48. Thanks for reading my rambles as always. We appreciate anyone who is following our journey.
Until next week.
Jaydo
